Suspension of nonimmigrant visas for US citizens
According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the US Embassy in Ankara has temporarily suspended the processing of nonimmigrant visas for Americans. The move is a result of recent events that have led the Turkish government to reconsider its security commitments. As a result, US applicants submitting their applications through the electronic visa system will now be met with a “sorry” message. This message also states that the selected country is no longer eligible for the e-Visa application process. This information has led many bodies to oppose the suspension of these visas.
The suspension of nonimmigrant visa services in Turkey came on October 9. This means that U.S. citizens will not be able to obtain e-visas or physical sticker visas for Turkey. They may not even be able to purchase sticker visas at the Turkish border. Those with valid visas issued prior to October 9 are still eligible to travel to Turkey, though.
